History

Albion Park Men’s Shed began from the vision of a couple of men, in approximately 2006, to establish a shed in the Albion Park area. They gathered information, surveyed local men, contacted local community groups to ascertain if such a project would be viable & accepted in Albion Park.

A site for the shed construction was obtained from Albion Park Anglican Church who agreed to host & support the project. The next challenge was to obtain funding & after several attempts a grant was obtained through the NSW State Government’s Community Builders Partnership Program in 2010.

The grant was less than requested so the original concept had to be scaled back. Construction of Stage 1 began in late 2011 culminating in the official opening on 25th Feb 2012.

Stage 2 will begin in early 2013 & Stage 3 will follow as funds become available.

The Albion Park Community has embraced the shed with many local community groups & schools contacting the shed for help with many & varied projects.

Men of all ages & from many walks of life now meet to share interests, hobbies & socialise, many seek to learn new skills. They all have the common desire of volunteering to work on community projects & in the process are making Albion Park a more vibrant & connected community.
